Hull Wasps completed their pre-season fixtures with a 76-61 victory over Doncaster League All-Stars at the Bonus Arena on Saturday evening.
In front of a 200+ home crowd, the Wasps opened the scoring through Adrian Blatherwick and took a commanding lead into the half-time break; leading 18-9 at the end of the first-quarter and 44-25 after the second.
It was a different story in the third-quarter however with the All-Stars, led by former Wasps John Kelsey, beginning to work better as a team and using their experience to bring the game back to within 11 points at 57-48.
It wasn’t enough however with Hull steadying the ship with 8 unanswered points at the start of the final period which saw the home side run out eventual winners at 76-61.
Team captain, John Brignell top-scored for the Wasps with 19 points, Adrian Blatherwick scored 15 points including 3 three-pointers with Matt Brutnell, who was also awarded MVP (Most Valuable Player), scoring 14.
Wasps will open up their league campaign next Saturday evening at home to Oldham Titans.
