AFTER reaching the third round of the National Shield for the first time, Hull Wasps have announced that their third round tie against Division Three outfit Sefton Stars will take place this Sunday (14th Nov) as originally scheduled.
The fixture will take place away from their usual home of the Bonus Arena, instead scheduled to play at Ennerdale Leisure Centre at 2pm. Ennerdale have made various arrangements to bring Hull's basketball team to the centre and the club are delighted at their help at such short notice.
"Ennerdale Leisure Centre management have been fantastic and very hospitable." said club chairman, Dave Bushnell.
"They have worked quickly to help us in a situation where availability at our usual venue is limited and provided an opportunity for us to play in front of our home crowd in this competition."
Sefton are sitting second in England Basketball’s third tier after a strong start to the season, but Brignell said his side are preparing for the game with victory in mind.
He said: “This competition can be a good barometer to test how we can compete against good sides in Division Three.
“If we are to take our chances of promotion seriously, these are the kind of teams we will be playing every week next season.
“I really think we can compete at that level with the group of players we have right now and I want us to go as far as we can in the Shield.”
