Wasps Suffer Setback in Loss To Lincoln

The Hull Wasps suffered their first defeat of the pre-season when they took on Lincoln Stars at Lincoln University on Saturday Afternoon.

The Wasps where without John Brignell, Miles Anderson, James Rayner, Chris Cummings, Liam Lacey, Simon Coker and Chris Mills so took a undersized squad which included a debut for Wasps rookie Point Guard Miles Baldwin. Also stepping in was one of the Hull Wasps Reserves Stu McAra.

In the early exchanges the Wasps could not find the target and went in trailing 26- 8 after the first quarter. Unfortunately the second quarter was the same story and the wasps trailed at the half 40-19.

After a very short half time both teams came out shooting well however the Wasps could not chip away at that 20 point lead that the Stars had built.

In the 4th the Wasps picked up the defence and started chipping away at the lead behind some great shooting from Ady Blatherwick. It was a case of too little too late as the Wasps fell to the Stars 58 - 45.

"We have to come out and perform every game. Confidence was high after last week and we will now have to try and rebuild that with some tough practices before the start of the season. It was just one of those games where we couldn’t get the feel of it. They happen unfortunately but we have to try and learn from it." Coach Fawcett said after the game.

The Wasps will look to bounce back against the DABA All Stars on September 24th.

A Big Thank you to the Wasps fans who made the trip today!
