The Hull Wasps got a first-hand lesson in another form of basketball last week, Wheelchair basketball. The Wasps head coach Matthew Fawcett along with Stingers in Motion coach Chris Wilson arranged the idea to have the fun friendly for both teams to start working closely with one another.
Wasps head coach Matthew Fawcett said of the event “Wheelchair basketball does not get anywhere close to the coverage that it should. It takes just as much skill, focus and heart to play if not more.”
Fawcett continued “I use to be involved with the Stingers in Motion club at the start and to see how far they have come as players and as an organisation really made me happy. They gave us a good beating on court tonight and we can’t wait to work with them on other ventures in the future.”
The players from both teams had a wonderful night and hopefully the game will become an annual event. In the end the Stingers in Motion won by a margin of 22-14 and the whole night proved to be a wonderful success.
The club would like to thank Stingers in Motion for their hospitality on the night!
