HULL Wasps are looking for a third straight win when they entertain Wirral Hornets on Saturday.
The Wasps will take on a Wirral side featuring former Hull Stingers guard Neil Smith, a good friend of many of the Hull players.
Guard Matt Fawcett said: “Neil came through the Stingers youth set-up alongside myself, James Rayner, Andy Marr and Mike Lekupe.
“He has had some time away from National League basketball and I am really glad he is playing again.
“He showed us earlier in the season that he has lost none of his ability and we will have to keep a close eye on him.
“I am personally very good friends with Neil and wish him all the best – but not until after our game against him.”
Victories over Liverpool and Middlesbrough Lions have moved the Wasps back into the top four in England Basketball’s National League division four, following the disappointing defeat to Durham.
The Middlesbrough victory last Sunday was one of the team’s best all-round performances of the season, with four players getting into double figures in scoring for the game.
Hull took an 84-50 win from their visit to Wirral in October, despite the absence of player-coach John Brignell.
They welcome the Merseysiders to the Bonus Arena in Walton Street, west Hull, Saturday at 7.30pm.
