Hull Wasps continue on the road on Saturday with a trip north to Teesside to face Tees Valley Mohawks.
Wasps have opened the new season well with 2 wins from their opening 2 games including an impressive 71-56 away win last weekend at Rossendale Raptors.
“We had a terrific win last week at Rossendale.” said Hull Wasps player-coach Matt Fawcett.
“We knew they would be a tough team but we came out ready to battle for every ball and it worked. We were particularly strong in the first-half again and that set us up for the rest of the game and I thought we were very impressive and deserved the win.”
The young head-coach has warned his players ahead of the tie about complacency but believes his players will be more than capable of coming away from Teesside with a win.
“The players aren’t taking anything lightly. They know every week they have to go out and perform and that will be the only way of securing promotion this season.
“The Mohawks are a tricky side. We do know them well from previous seasons and it’s never easy going to their place. We’ll stick to our game-plan and work hard again - a good start is key.”
Wasps will be without their influential captain in John Brignell for the game. The 6’8” centre will miss the game due to personal commitments but should return for the double-game weekend at the Bonus Arena next weekend.
“We are missing big John for this game which isn’t great news but we have the squad to compete. We still have James Rayner, Miles Anderson, Matt Brutnell and Jason Munro; four very good inside men who will really test Tees Valley.”
The game tips-off at 2pm at the University of Teeside.
