Hull Wasps will need to be on their best form as they travel over to the North West tomorrow afternoon to take on Burnley Blaze.
The Wasps haven’t managed to beat the Blaze on three previous occasions in the National League competition. In the equivalent fixture last season, the Wasps came close but narrowly lost out 81-72 at Burnley College.
"We've never beaten Burnley before but we've come close” said Hull coach Matt Fawcett.
"We've played very well over the past six or seven games. We overcame quite a mental battle last weekend and I think that was a much bigger win for us than probably any other game this season.”
The most recent defeat at the hands of Burnley came earlier this season when the Wasps were defeated 85-64 at home. Burnley were undefeated before their big win at the Bonus Arena but have lost four from their last eight games since, leaving them sixth in the league.
The Wasps have also had mixed results lately with defeats from Rossendale and Middlesbrough, but after a great performance and win at home against Bradford Dragons last weekend, the Wasps are back up to fourth position and are in a confident mood.
"We know this is a good opportunity for us. We have confidence at the moment and now is a good time to prove that we can compete with the best. We have to press on from here now and prove that we deserve to be where we are in the league.”
The Wasps face Burnley Blaze tomorrow afternoon, 4pm at Burnley College.
