Wasps Ready to Slay Knights

The Hull Wasps will hope to bounce back from last weekend's defeat to Mold Magic and move up the VCARS.co.uk Division 4 table when they entertain Newcastle-under-Lyme Knights.

This will be the first time these two teams have met as the Knights played in the Midlands conference of Division 4 last season, finishing with a creditable 13-9 record to finish in fifth position in their debut season.

The Knights were founded in 2011 by player coach Shawn Jamison, a player of the highest calibre whose CV boasts NBA experience with the LA Clippers as well as a stint with the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, followed by a 10 year career in the BBL. Jamison led his young team in rebounding and scoring last season before retiring at the start of the summer. However, Jamison has indeed laced up his sneakers for this season playing an accompanying role, so far allowing others to dominate the scoring.

A key player for the Knights is 6\'9\" centre Jared Rushden who uses his size to dominate the scoring  and boards on the inside, whilst Wasps will need to be wary of this season\'s top scorer Laz Thompson who is averaging 22 points per game.

So far this season the Knights have won one, lost one in the league but have done well in the knockout competitons, winning in the first round of both the cup and shield before running division 3 Rossendale Raptors and Huddersfield Heat close in the next rounds.

Coach fawcett will need a full squad available to him for this encounter and will be hoping that Matt Brutnell still has the hot hand as he is averaging 20 points per game to lead the Wasps. Neil Rymer should return, as both his and Ben Burns\' offensive contribution will be needed against the Knights.

After the loss to Mold Magic which left his team in 7th position in the VCARS.co.uk Division 4, Coach Fawcett stressed that \"We have to treat every game like it\'s make or break for us. We can\'t afford many slip ups this season so we\'re working even harder this week.\"

Tip off is 6.30pm this Saturday, 3rd November at Ennerdale Leisure Centre.
