Wasps Seeking Magical Win

The Hull Wasps make the long trip to North Wales to take on Mold Magic this Sunday (28th Oct), looking to build on their impressive win against Bradford Maroons last week and move up the V-cars.co.uk Division 4 table.

Coach Fawcett's side enjoyed two victories over Mold last season; a comfortable 70-50 win away and 79-65 home win when their opponents pushed the Wasps to the brink before John Kelsey inspired his team to victory with a massive fourth quarter performance.

Last season was Mold Magic's first in the National League and they finished with a disappointing  2-20 record; however they have recruited well and this season stand at 1-1, having beaten Oldham Titans at home before losing in a high-scoring encounter to Tees Valley Mohawks II.

Wasps' defence will have to be at its swarming best to contain last season's top scorer Pas Kornecki and this season's danger man Duppa who is averaging 22.5 points per game. They are ably supported by big man Tom Wilkinson and guard Dan Evans, both stalwarts of lasts season's debut in the National League.

Hull Wasps will hope to have a full squad to choose from for the first time this season as James Rayner is close to full fitness and Miles Anderson should receive his registration just in time for the game.

Coach Fawcett is in positive mood after last weekend's back-to-back wins.

"It was great to get our season up and running last weekend. The result against Bradford was a nice victory for our home debut with lots of positives to take away and some small things to work on."

Meanwhile the thrilling victory over Sefton Stars in the National Shield was considered by Fawcett as "...the best result in my coaching career."

Tip-off this Sunday is 2pm at Mold Leisure Centre.
