HULL Wasps chalked up a fantastic 74-64 win at Stockport Falcons last Friday evening but fell short at Burnley Blaze the following day by just 9 points.
In the first game of the weekend, Wasps came from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to beat the Falcons on their home court.
After a close opening quarter ending 16 points each, the Falcons opened the gap during the second period, ending the half 7 points ahead at 43-36.
Things got worse for the Wasps after the break as they went further behind, as much as 11 points down mid-way through the third. But the visitors came back to level the game up at the end of the third, 53-53.
The final quarter proved decisive and the Wasps took full advantage of the momentum that had swung their way and took the game by 10 points.
Player-coach John Brignell led the scoring for the Wasps with 18 points, Birchmore added 12 and Blatherwick scored 11.
Hull travel to Burnley tomorrow to take on 5th place Blaze who defeated the Wasps at the Bonus Arena earlier in the season.
