The Hull Wasps were back to pre-season training last night as Hull's Basketball Club prepare for their third season in National League. Although the season does not begin until September, like last year, Hull come back to training early to get ready for the tough season ahead.

Hull Wasps Head Coach, Chris McKenna believes that bringing the team back early can only improve the squad.

"With more competition in National League 4 North than in previous seasons, it's important that we prepare well now so we can keep on improving" said the Canadian.

"I think everybody would agree that we had a successful campaign last season, which was an improvement on the previous. We have to keep working hard if we are to gain promotion. It will be harder than ever this year with the new teams. They are very experienced and work very hard. If we are to improve on our finish this season then we must work hard."

Hull Wasps have drafted in 6 under-18 youth into the first team to continue developing local talent. Local players are a key part of the Hull team and is perhaps the biggest draft-in so far.

"We have brought these guys through to give them vital experience" continued Chris.

"We have been watching them closely and feel now is the right time. They are very skillful young players and will play a vital part in our squad this year."
