England Basketball today announced that the Hull Wasps have made a successful re-application to the England Basketball League, National League 4 North.

Each basketball club throughout the UK has to re-apply for league entry every season, no matter which division they previously competed in the season before. Based on the club's previous year, England Basketball consider various factors including things like set-up, youth structure, teams and finance etc.

After completing and submitting the application in March, the Hull Wasps have now been announced as one of the 12 teams competing in the division for the 2009-10 National League season.

"It's a great testimant to the hard work that everyone has put in here at the club within the first year." said club director, David Bushnell.

"Our club has gone from strength to strength through the first year with extra players, volunteers and partnerships and we will continue that progress with great enthusiasm throughout the new season."

The new season will see some fresh opponents for the Wasps, with the top 3 sides of the 2008-09 northern division all being promoted to division 3 north. Huddersfield Heat, with only 1 win last year, have come down from League 3 North. Merseyside Spartans, Middlesbrough Lions and the Tees & Wear Valley Supersonics are the other new sides entering the league for the new season.
