It was a close encounter back in January when Team Durham Wildcats came to the Gemtec Arena. On that night, the Wasps lost by just 7 points and will now be looking for revenge when they take on the Wildcats again with a pre-season clash on Saturday 22 August at the Gemtec Arena.

In the warm-up to the new season, this new friendly fixture is ideal, according to Wasps coach, James Coulson.

"We wanted to pit outselves against one of the top sides in our league." said Coulson.

"The game in January didn't go in our favour and some of the calls made against us seemed to rattle our cages and our lack of experience cost us. We had some good players in the side that day and those players are still with us today. We have improved our squad tremendously and the team and I can't wait to get stuck into the new season."

The Wasps will be involved in a series of fixtures during pre-season to help them prepare for the new 2009-10 National League season. HULLWASPS.CO.UK will announce those fixtures as soon as the information becomes available.
