Due to availability at the Gemtec Arena, the Hull Wasps National Shield Round 2 game against Durham Wildcats has been moved to Sunday 2nd November 2008.

The fixture has been moved from the weekend of the 25/26 October so that the Wasps can accomodate a home crowd at the Arena, which now sets up a double header weekend on the first weekend of November. The Wasps host north west side, Stockport Falcons at 7pm on Saturday 1st November, followed by the crucial clash against the Wildcats on the Sunday also at 7pm.

"I think it was extremely important to keep this game at home" said club director, David Bushnell.

"When we found out that the Arena was busy on the scheduled weekend, the other alternatives, including moving this fixture away to Durham, didn't seem fair to our supporters.

To lose our home court advantage would also seriously effect the players and therefore effect our chances of advancing in this competition.

This now sets up an exciting weekend of basketball in Hull. Both games will be extremely testing for the Wasps but I know we're more than capable of winning both games."

The result of this fixture change also makes November the busiest month in the Wasps' basketball season. Should the Wasps make it through against Durham Wildcats, that could set up another home tie against either National Cup conquerers, Bradford Dragons, or League 4 rivals, Bury Blue Devils on Sunday November 23rd, bringing a total of 7 games in the month, including 5 at home.

The changes have now been made on the fixtures page along with the wallpapers in the fanzone.
