The Hull Wasps were edged out in a thriller by the Ilkeston Outlaws on Saturday evening at the Gemtec Arena. The Wasps once again started poorly leaving too much to take on, even with a good second half display, lack of concentration cost Hull their first league win of the season.

Starting out as an evenly balanced tie with both Hull and Ilkeston up for the fight. However a good scoring run from the Ilkeston Outlaws saw them go in at the first break 22-15 ahead.

Three 3-point shots from Ilkeston's Garcia (6) saw the Outlaws take a 10 point lead toward the end of the second quarter, but a good finish from the Wasps stopped the rot and saw the defecit reduced slightly, finishing the half 39-31 down.

Hull came out battling in the third out-scoring for the first time in the game, 15-8, ending the 3rd quarter just 1 point behind 46-47.

After several miss-placed passes and some wayward shooting, the final quarter ended very much like the rest of the game. Evenly balanced at 15-15 with the Wasps finally losing the game after an intense finish. With only 1 minute remaining, the Outlaws took a 4 point lead to make it 62-58, only for Adrian Blatherwick to score a sweet 3 point shot to set up an agonisingly tight finish for everyone watching. Final score, Wasps 61 Outlaws 62.

Jamie Goodwin once again top scored with 20 points, John Brignell coming close with 18.
