The Hull Wasps went down 56-80 to League 3 side, Bradford Dragons, in the National Cup on Sunday at The Gemtec Arena. The home side, in their new home kit, looked a little tired from the previous night's away trip to Bury. However Hull managed to put up a good fight but couldn't crawl back the opening quarter 22-12 deficit.
The second quarter got worse for the Wasps who were down 48-25 at the half. Although there was a spirited second half performance from the Wasps, scoring 14 each in the 3rd and 18-17 in the 4th, it wasn't enough to overcome a strong Dragons side who clearly came to win.
In the absense of coach, James Coulson, temporary assistant coach, John Kelsey took charge of the Wasps.
"I thought we looked bit tired today. I think the guys did well. We know we can play better as we showed in the Shield but Bradford are a good side. We knew that before hand and perhaps we showed them too much respect in the end."
The Wasps now turn their attention back to the National League this weekend, at home to Ilkeston Outlaws at The Gemtec Arena on Saturday (4th October) at 7pm.
