It took a period of overtime to do it but the Hull Wasps got their first win of 2009 with a 80-75 away win at Reddish Rebels. The Wasps have been 5 games without a win before Sunday's game in Reddish but a final push in overtime has provided a much need win and confidence boost for the team.

After a tight first quarter, both sides were tied at 9 each. In the second, Reddish started to pull away and managed to create a 9 point gap going in at half time 30-21 up.

The Wasps came back out after the break, and like last week at Stockport, put in a strong performance in the third to crawl back the deficit and take a 2 point lead at 53-51, going into the final quarter.

Both sides had the hunger for the win tied the game at 70 points each, forcing an overtime period to determine the winner. Wasps came out on top scoring 10 points and constraining the Rebels to just 5, finishing the 80-75 and picking up a much needed win.

Jason Munro top-scored with 28 points, Jamie Goodwin came second with 22 and John Kelsey scored 15. The Wasps are back at the Gemtec Arena next Saturday evening (14th) to face Tees Valley Mohawks, who the Wasps have already beaten twice this season.
