Hull Wasps Kept their good form rolling Wednesday night with an impressive win against the Steelers.
The first quarter was pretty even with both teams showing good defense and strong offense. Hull edged a 16-14 first quarter lead. Both teams turned the heat up on offense in the second quarter. The Wasps built an 11 point lead midway through the second until the Steelers went on a 19-4 run. which saw them up 5. The Wasps battled back and held a 41-40 lead at the half.
The Wasps took control in the third and with 14 third quarter points from Neil Rymer the Wasps went into the Fourth with a 65-55 lead. The Steelers briefley threatened the Wasps lead and trailed by only 6. The Wasps stayed composed and turned great defense into offense. The Wasps built a lead a finished strong.
Reserves coach and captain Liam Wordsworth felt the Wasps made a statement with an impressive win. "We're currently second in the league and everyone seems to think Doncaster Falcons will go all the way. After tonights performance we showed we can play very good basketball and will hopefully open a few people's eyes over the next few weeks"
Rob Birchmore top scored with 30 points followed by Neil Rymer with 26 and John Kelsey with 13.
