Hull Wasps Reserves began their Doncaster League 2008-09 campaign with an emphatic 75-37 win over Deaf College Devils on Wednesday evening. The reserves featured 4 first team players within the 12 man squad - Matt Fawcett, Liam Wordsworth, Rob Birchmore and most notibly, John Kelsey, who after returning to training on Tuesday night, managed to get 15 assists and force 4 turnovers within the game.

From the tip-off Wasps came out flying taking a 18-10 lead at the 1st break,  then continuing to dominate their opponents in the 2nd, finishing 42-20. The wasps restricted their opponents to just 6 points in the 3rd quarter ending 57-26, then finally ending the game, 75-37.

Matt Fawcett top scored with 20 points, with Billy Cowell scoring 13.

"The win was a great experience for our younger players." said youth development coach, Liam Wordsworth.

"It will give them tremendous confidence going into next weeks game and beyond. Well done to the lads, they had some smart passing and some good defense to hold them off.

"If we perform like that next week I'm sure we continue to go on a good run."
