HULL Wasps face an uphill task to make it three out of three in National League Division Four North against Middlesbrough Lions this evening.
The Wasps are missing two players who have started every game in their blistering start to the season.
Point guard John Kelsey injured his ankle in the victory over Team Durham Wildcats last weekend and is expected to be missing for a week or two, while forward Rob Birchmore is out of the country and misses his second straight game.
Player-coach John Brignell said the absences gave other players a chance to shine.
He said: “Players who have perhaps not had as much playing time as John and Rob should grab this chance with both hands.
“We have talent at every roster spot and I am confident we can cope with the absences. If I was one of those players, I would want to make it as difficult as possible for John and Rob to regain their spots in the rotation.”
Forward Damien Keegan remains on the sidelines for the Wasps after injuring a rib in the club’s first game in the National Cup against Team Northumbria.
But former head coach Jimmy Coulson boosts the line-up with his season debut.
