PLAYER-coach John Brignell will be back in the line-up as Hull Wasps put their undefeated start to the season and National Shield progression on the line in a double-header weekend at the Bonus Arena.
The Wasps host Tees Valley Mohawks in the league tonight at 7.30pm and Durham Wildcats in the third round of the Shield on Sunday at 6pm, both on their home court in Walton Street, west Hull.
It will see a return to the side for 6ft 8in centre Brignell, who missed the victory in Wirrall last weekend.
The Wasps have beaten both of thee north-east teams comfortably already this season, Tees Valley in the Shield and Durham in the league.
Brignell said: “We beat both of them this season already, but we won’t be even thinking about those games, other than to tidy up one or two bits we didn’t do brilliantly against them.
“But the main thing is not to be complacent. Both teams were shorthanded when we played them and neither played anywhere near as well as they have done against us in previous seasons.
“We are the only team to have beaten Durham in the league, so we expect them to be a hell of a lot better on Sunday than they were last month.”
The games could see a return for point guard John Kelsey, who has been missing since turning his ankle in the victory in Durham two weekends ago.
But the Wasps have doubts over captain Jamie Goodwin and forward Miles Anderson, who are carrying shoulder and ankle injuries respectively.
