With the 2013/14 VCARS.co.uk Division Four season still some months away, Hull Wasps fans were given reason to be excited yesterday as England Basketball finalised details of the upcoming year of competitive basketball in the fourth tier which notably features the inclusion of five recently founded clubs.
Alongside newly-formed Humberside rivals, the Kingston Panthers, the Wasps are set to lock horns with Gateshead Phoenix and Selton Stars II while Leeds is represented by two clubs in the form of the Tigers and the Carnegie Academy II. After finishing fourth last time around, Matt Fawcett’s men will once again set their sights on promotion to the third division, a league which Middlesborough Lions used to call home before their relegation last term.
The only other sides to remain alongside the Wasps are Bradford Dragons II and Liverpool who will also be hoping to use their Division Four expertise to mount an assault on the upper reaches after a season of steady progress last time around.
Returning to the fourth tier, as a result of boundary changes, are the Durham Wildcats II and Childwall who join the Newcastle Eagles II in filling the final places available.
With the division now decided, the clubs can focus their attentions on preparing their squads for the challenges ahead. Make sure you keep up to date on the progress of the Wasps’ pre-season preparations by regularly coming back to hullwasps.co.uk
Fixtures for the new campaign will be released in July which is also when the club plan to announce exciting news about the media coverage which they will be able to provide for the 2013/14 season.
