Players will be ready to go!
Coach Fawcett was in high spirits at training last week and said the “the players will be ready when the first jump ball is thrown this season”
The team are looking to improve on last season’s record a task Fawcett knows won’t be easy with the loss of key players. However Coach Fawcett does not see a reason why the players won’t be ready to go in September.
“We are seeing this as a new start and opportunity to wipe the slate clean. We lost 8 players from last season and as a result I have brought in a crop of new players. This does mean we are starting from scratch. I am putting in a whole new style for us to play and so far it has been well received.”
Coach Fawcett is not the only one who is optimistic. One of the point guards Liam Wordsworth was quick to add how impressed he was with everybody.
“There is definitely a different feel about the squad. Last year was a great team this year will be a different team. We will have to see how that translates. The guys are looking sharp in training and really want to impress Coach and earn their playing time.”
With less than 7 weeks to go the Wasps will be working hard to make sure that when that first jump ball is thrown in September they are on the right side of it.
