Hull Wasps exited the National Cup on Sunday evening after a 90-53 defeat at Team Northumbria. Hull were missing some key names including captain John Brignell, James Rayner, Jason Munro, Chris Mills and Miles Baldwin but put in a spirited performance at University of Northumbria.
Following the game, player-coach Matt Fawcett said: "It was disappointing to exit the Cup but we knew it would be an extremely tough game.”
“Our confidence was good coming into the game after such a big win yesterday at Rossendale and that helped our performance. We missed some of our usual big men but we still had the players to perform out there.
“Overall we’ve had a good weekend and got a great result last night so we’re very happy. It’s always disappointing to exit any competition but we knew odds were against us so the focus had to be on the league game yesterday.”
