Local telecoms company, The One Point, have backed Hull and East Yorkshire’s National League basketball club, Hull Wasps in a three-year community sponsorship deal.
The local business IT, telephone, broadband and mobile provider have become the official community sponsors of Hull Wasps, backing them with a four-figure sum to help them develop young basketball talent.
The One Point’s Managing Director, Martin Lauer said: “We’re proud to once again be supporting the Hull Wasps.
“We’ve been a sponsor of the club in various ways before. We have an extensive community programme which invests in local charities and community groups every year. The Hull Wasps have incredible potential to take basketball in Hull onto the national stage. We have a big belief in their new community programme and it’s exciting to be part of it.”
The Wasps new community programme sees them open themselves up to the local community for the first time which will not only give everyone the chance to play and improve, but will see various young talented players go onto play National League for the first time.
Hull Wasps Club Chairman, Dave Bushnell, said: “Our new community programme gives us the ability to help develop young players and help them reach their playing potential.
“At a time when sponsorship is very hard to come by, when many local businesses are struggling through the recession, The One Point have come forward and been very generous in their support. I would like to personally thank them for their contribution.”
As part of the sponsorship, The One Point’s brand will appear on the Junior Wasps training jerseys for the next three-years.
