Hull Wasps go into their derby clash with Leeds on Sunday without centre John Brignell. Brignell is out due to family reasons and forward Jason Munro will miss the game also. Matt Fawcett is still forced out with his ankle injury but will remain as assistant coach on the sideline with player-coach James Coulson.
James Rayner is in doubt after a back strain has forced him to sit out in training this week but shooting-guard Neil Rymer makes a return in his first game of 2009.
Other guards included in Sunday's squad are John Kelsey, Ashley Rice, Chris Cummings, Adrian Blatherwick and Liam Wordsworth. Captain Jamie Goodwin will be available to play in the middle along with the experience of Chris McKenna and providing James Rayner passes fitness it will leave Hull with a couple of options in the key.
Forwards Angelo Irving and Rob Birchmore are also available to provide more options for coach James Coulson.
Coulson commented: "We've got a couple of missing players but that won't stop us playing well. We have the squad to cope and if you look at the team sheet, I think it will fill everyone with confidence that we will put in a good performance against Leeds.
"They [Leeds] will be looking to continue their good run and push for the title this year. They are fighting up there with Ilkeston and Tyne Met but Leeds have the best record in the league so far and they will be looking to stay there. We've got to work hard and make a great start on Sunday to come away with the points.
"I think everyone knows it'll be a very tough game but we've got the ability and talent, we've just got to use it."
The yorkshire derby tips off at 3:00pm on Sunday (18th January) at the Gemtec Arena.
