Hull Wasps received a bitter blow on Monday morning with the news that influential guard, Matt Fawcett, will be out for the rest of the season with a fractured foot.

Fawcett sustained the injury in Sunday's away victory over Wirral Hornets during the fourth quarter of the game. After jumping for a rebound, he fell awkwardly on his ankle and sat out the rest of the game.

Initial scans from the hospital on the way back from Wirral suggested that 'Mosha' would be back to play at the end of January. However after returning to hospital today in Hull for further checks, the doctors have said it will be more like 3 months before returning which would mean the end of March (2009).

Should Wasps manage to make the play-offs, beginning 21/22 March, Mosha could make a welcome return but it is unlikely he will make the last home game against Wirral at the Gemtec Arena on March 7th.
