Ahead of this weekend's double header, Chris McKenna has announced his 12 man squad to travel to Bury Blue Devils on Saturday night (7:30pm) in the league, and Bradford Dragons on Sunday afternoon (4:15pm) for the second round of the National Shield.

Big-men Michal Kucmierczyk, captain Jamie Goodwin and James Rayner have been selected along with forwards Damien Keegan and Rob Birchmore.

The 7 squad members include Matt Fawcett, John Kelsey, Kamil Pilarski, Chis Cummings, Liam Wordsworth, Adrian Blatherwick and Ashley Rice will make his first appearance of the season after an early season break.

"It's a tough weekend" commented Chris who believes the squad have what it takes to come away with more points and a position in the next round of the Shield.

"Bury will be tough opponents. They had some good results against us last year so it will be tough but as we know, confidence is high right now and we've already been to some tough opponents early on so we know we are more than capable.

"Bradford will obviously be our toughest test on Sunday but you never know what we can achieve. If we stay solid in defence we'll create opportunities going forward and when you can do that, there's always a chance."

The result for each game will be posted on the official website after each game. The Wasps play their first home game of the season next week against Huddersfield Heat at the Gemtec Arena.
