Difficult Month Ahead for Wasps

Having played half the season the Wasps have every reason to be in good spirits going into the second half of the season. At the Christmas break the Wasps sat 3rd in the table with a record of 6-3. Now a race for the play offs begins.

“Other teams have had strong starts to the season. We dropped a couple of games early that we would not have liked to but that’s basketball and hopefully we learn from it.” Coach Fawcett said at practice last week. “We are still in a great position where we control our own destiny and need to make sure that we take care of all the difficult games and try and get playing at a high level quickly.”

The next three weeks will be the making of the Wasps as they face the other top 3 teams consecutively. First they will face Leeds Tigers a fixture that the Wasps lost earlier in the season. This is followed by the second Hull Derby and finally a visit from league leaders Liverpool.

“These games will be a great chance for us to get our season back on track, certainly Leeds and Kingston are going to be must win games and we gave Liverpool a good game last time we hope we can push them close again.” Captain John Kelsey said.

One thing is for sure if the Wasps can pull off some big wins over the next few weeks they will set themselves up nicely for a strong playoff push!
