Coach Fawcett: "No Room for Error"

When the Wasps start their new league season in two weeks against the Bradford Dragons Coach Fawcett has warned his players that there is no room for silly errors.

"Last season was a learning curve for me as a rookie coach and the players who played for me. We made mistakes during the season that cost us games and ultimately cost us a playoff spot."

The Wasps have moved up their training schedule to two sessions a week this season and even though it has been hard work and a big time commitment the hard work is certainly paying off.

"Having a second session is crucial in moving forward. I am able to go over things with a fine tooth comb and decide what works and why. The players also get chance to practice with the emphasis being on repetition."

"The squad have done a fantastic job gelling and getting to know each other. There is a real brotherly bond between all the guys. They will joke with each other one second but will step up for each other when it is needed."

Coach Fawcett hopes that after an extensive and gruelling pre-season training programme, the Wasps are now ready to overcome their biggest challenge, themselves.

“The players have what it takes but it’s that mental step-up that we’ll need to overcome this season if we’re going to have success.”

Wasps tip-off the league season away at Bradford Dragons II next Saturday 13th October, 2pm.
