Hull Wasps Chairman David Bushnell this week has explained how winning Promotion into Division3 is just the start of the clubs long term plans. Bushnell who has been club chairman since the club was formed in 2008
was not shy about highlighting the clubs aims and expectations.
"Since we formed we have always had the same goals and objectives, be the first to bring BBL basketball to Hull." The BBL (British Basketball League) is the UK's professional league and even though the goals seem lofty and ambitious the Wasps Chairman was eager to state they are certainly something the Wasps could achieve. "We have grown every year, when we started we had a group of hull grown players and we entered national league. The amount of people in the club was probably less than twenty. Fast forward six seasons and the club have just had a season which has seen over 150 players pass through the door at all levels, Great Britain Internationals and players from America, Spain and France and the first promotion winning side from Hull in nearly twenty years."
Those achievements are fantastic and will hopefully aim to be a platform for the club. Just last week the Wasps launched a partnership with Wyke College which will allow the Wasps to offer a complete player pathway for boys and girls through Wyke and our affiliated club the Hull Stingers.
"Everything we do is aimed at improving basketball in Hull and Humberside. We still want to grow and offer the best standard of basketball something I am proud to say we have worked hard to achieve."
The Chairman and the rest of the staff at the club will be working towards the clubs landmark season in Division 3 and continuing to represent the city at the highest level.
