Hull Wasps have today announced the capture of 6'8" centre, John Brignell for the 2008-2009 season.
Brignell, 27, has grown up through the Hull youth system but has since played basketball in the USA and Canada at high school. During his time in the United States, John has played in New York and Boston earning several MVP awards across various tournaments.
John returned to Hull to play for the National League Hull Icebergs team where he played for 3 seasons until the merger with the Hull Stingers. John also played for the Hull University Basketball team.
"I'm very excited about the upcoming season and the new team. At this stage I just need to get up to match level fitness and get back into playing competitively, but it's coming back fast and I'll be ready to work by September." commented Brignell who will be a fantastic addition to the squad.
Coach, James Coulson added: "John is a fantastic well experienced centre with great ability. He's a bit short of game fitness for now but he and all the lads will be working hard up until September to increase fitness and speed. John will fit right in with the lads and his experience will be crucial for our promotion push this year".
